.SHORT TERM...
(Today through Thursday night)
Issued at 436 AM CST Tue Dec 3 2024
Another day of cool continental high pressure to remain above the
area today. Meanwhile a weak coastal trof is beginning to deepen
along the southern Tx coast. The high pressure cell will gradually
broaden southeast from the Ohio valley toward the SECONUS. With that
weak coastal troughing lifting north along the Tx Coastline, some
enhancement of the pressure gradient over the western Gulf will lead
to hazardous conditions for small craft. Offshore, there is a Small
Craft Advisory over the 20-60nm waters through 6PM tonight to
account for these elevated winds/seas. By Wednesday the trof begins
to move inland Tx with moisture spreading north along Eastern Tx
toward Southern Oklahoma. As the warm sector of the coastal low
lifts inland from the Louisiana Coast, coverage of showers will
increase throughout the afternoon and evening into SWLA. While
forecast soundings show negligible instability by and large, some
rumbles of thunder are not of the question. Precipitation will be in
the form of scattered to widespread pockets of showers of varying
intensity. No risk of excessive rainfall at this time, but guidance
does suggest a few urban areas could be susceptible to a little bit
of ponding for the more efficient showers. Chances of rain gradually
decrease during the daylight hours Thursday from NW to SE into the
evening as frontal boundary moves through. A narrow ridge of high
pressure over the Midwest will build south following the frontal
pattern Friday. CAA behind the front will bring lows down toward the
freezing mark for interior SETX and CenLA.

.LONG TERM...
(Friday through Tuesday)
Issued at 436 AM CST Tue Dec 3 2024
With high pressure presenting a resurgence of cold continental air
to the area, cooler temperatures will be even more noticeable into
Friday where highs may struggle to hit 50 north of I-10. High
pressure quickly broadens over the South Saturday allowing winds to
ease and temperatures to trend warmer / mild by the end of the
weekend as we see the pattern attempt to repeat a coastal trof
lifting into Eastern Tx by the start of the next work week. Although
it`s on the cusp of the outlook and subject to evolution, guidance
has been more aggressive with rainfall given the warmer environment
yielding higher precipitable water in the atmosphere.

.AVIATION...

Issued at 436 AM CST Tue Dec 3 2024

.MARINE...
Issued at 326 PM CST Mon Dec 2 2024
A small Craft Advisory was issued for the outer marine zones due
to slightly elevated winds expected tomorrow. Rain chances will
increase towards the middle of the week as a low pressure center
moves up the Texas coastline and a warm front moves north through
the GoM.
